I just wanted to give you a little update on our little guy, Redford. He is almost 7 months now, and 13 pounds! He is a ball of energy and I don’t know what I did with myself before we got him 🙂 We are so glad we found you and Redford – he brings us so much happiness! I hope Silver Paw Kennels is doing well!

Here is an update on “Bella” from Lilly & Colby’s October 2012 litter!
Hi Kristy. Hope your family is doing well. Thought I would drop you a quick update on Bella (Lilly and Colby’s Oct litter). This must be the easiest puppy transition ever! She has slept from 9:30 until 6 since her first week with us! Crate training has been a breeze, and she has been ringing the bell to go outside for the past week! She is the perfect blend of playful and snuggler! She loves the kids and playing with her Schnoodle pal across the street. Don’t know what we did without her:)…
She is scheduled for spay, microchip, and hernia repair in March. Â At 15 weeks she weighed 4lb 11oz. The vet does want me to ask you the height and weight of her parents. I know you are busy, but if you have a second we would love to have that info. Bella is Dr. Snyder’s first Cavachon patient! King Charles Spaniels are her favorite dogs, so she is very interested in our Bella…

This was the tiny, tiny female from Lilly’s litter. Â She shipped all the way to North Carolina and did fine on the plane! Â She will probably stay under 10 lbs as an adult, which is a lot smaller than our normal 13-19 lb dogs that our Cavachons generally grow into. Â Can’t wait to hear how she progresses in size!

Training your puppy can be a fun and rewarding experience. Here is a quick tip for new and older puppies.
Every puppy from Silver Paw Cavachons comes home with a collar and leash. Use these tools, not only for daily walks, but for containment training as well.
Your new puppy does not need full run of the house to be happy. In fact, he will be more secure and settled if you control and confine his spaces during the first year of his life.
The picture below happens a LOT in our home! Whenever we are doing extended training with someone’s puppy, we bring them into the middle of our lives, and treat them as we would our own little dog.
Use your collar and leash to tether your puppy in a central location so she can see you and the family in action. Give her a bed and bully stick just in case she gets bored of watching you!
Knowing your puppy is close by and safe gives you peace of mind. Knowing your carpet and furniture are safe provides even more, and through the process your puppy learns to be content near you without having to be constantly held or in your lap.
I highly recommend puppy containment during the first year, and this is one simple way to do it, while still providing the feel of freedom for your puppy.
*This method is best when you know you will be in the room or passing through frequently. A puppy left on a leash with no supervision, could easily chew through if she decided to. Of course, your Lupine Collar and Leash are guaranteed, even against chewing, so you can easily get a new one, but its always best to supervise your puppy unless she is in her safe zone or her crate.
We are happy to announce the arrival of Maggie & Pujo’s puppies. They were born late Friday night, January 18th. It is a gorgeous litter of 4, including all of our most coveted colors!
Maggie did well during the delivery. I set up camp just feet from her whelping bed, to make sure everything went smoothly.
The first puppy was born around 10:30pm. The last puppy came out around 1am. By 2am, mom and babies were cozy and settled, and I zonked out in the bed next to her.
I slept soundly till 9:30am the next morning and Maggie was a champ all night.
The babies are 2 days old now and tonight they will get their dew claws removed.
I love that we got all the rare colors in one litter! I always love the rainbow litters with 3 or more different colors!!

Love hearing from our extended SPK families!! Here is an update on our “Gone With the Wind” litter from Maggie & Ricky! There were 6 puppies in this very colorful litter. I’d love to hear from the others as well!

Just a little update on Tucker (Ashley from Maggie & Ricky’s June 7th litter). He is doing great! He is almost 7 months and just before 6 months he was about 13 pounds. He seems to have grown a lot in the last month though.
He is such a great dog. Everyone loves him. He is very playful with a lot of energy, but he also loves to curl up next to anyone who will let him. We love that he is energetic and fun when we want him to be and nice and calm at times too.
Here are a couple pictures after Tucker’s recent grooming (his first full hair cut) so you can see his coloring.

The Beauty of a Black Cavachon! The third rarest color, behind the Tri and Black & Tan is the Black Cavachon. With hair that looks almost velvet like, the Black Cavachons truly do have a beauty all their own!
We currently have 3 beautiful black Cavachon puppies in the Lilly litter. They will be small. Please remember how beautiful they can be!
