There are a couple more photos that were pretty cute so I thought I’d share them as well!
First, Tabitha’s boy!
Then the girls. Enjoy!
I’ve added a couple new features to the blog and I wanted to talk about them so nobody is confused or worried if they notice their name OFF of the waiting list.
Because the Cavachons are so popular, we receive deposits very early in the process, sometimes even before puppies are born. Then, little by little, people choose their puppies, and I’ve made that notation within the waiting list on the right column here on the blog. I’ve noticed that when the list is long, and it is riddled with puppies that have been matched, and families that are still waiting, it becomes a little confusing to figure out whose turn it is to choose a puppy, and which puppies are still available.
I’ve added a new section on the right column called “Reserved Puppies”. Once a family has selected their puppy, their name will be removed from the waiting list and added to the Reserved Puppy list. This will help the waiting list to not be bogged down, and it will truly reflect those that are actually still “waiting” to select a puppy.
I also added a little section called “Upcoming Litters”, which will list any upcoming litters, the parents, breed, and month that the puppies are due.
I hope these new changes help the website be more streamlined, precise, and organized. Any feedback welcome!
Yesterday was spa day for Lilly’s litter. They were perfect little angels during the whole process except for one little pooper during the blow dry! But I was right there and got that scooped up immediately and a fresh towel in the crate for the rest of the time!
Lilly’s puppies are 6 weeks old today so it’s time to open the litter up for puppy selection. I am working through the waiting list and will soon know which puppies have been selected and which puppies are still available.
These babies are just darling and oh so small!

Adult Cavachon. She was red as a puppy!
Today has been a flow blown puppy day! It began last night when I gathered all the supplies for three puppies to go to their forever homes…food samples, shot records, heart toys, blankies, collars/leads…everything that goes home with each puppy was packed in the little paw print bag and ready for an early morning.
We woke up and hit the floor running. Daryl had to take 3 puppies to Spokane, to meet two buyers, and put one puppy on a red eye flight tonight to Boston. I had to get 3 litters ready for visitors, and do the normal morning doggie chores. We also had to get Daryl’s truck, a chore we were not expecting to need to do, but life happens, and that delegated task fell back into our laps. That sucked up over an hour of my morning, so I was not able to bathe Lilly’s litter before visitors came eagerly into our home.
I had the great pleasure of meeting Krista, Ashley, her friend, Nanci, and Tabitha! Smiles were everywhere as everyone held puppies, exchanged puppies, looked at puppies, hugged puppies, and came to their final decisions about which puppy they wanted for their forever friend! The process is so much fun, especially when it’s done in person!
I had a great visit with everyone, and once the decisions were made, everyone was on their way, and the house was quiet again. I snapped a few pictures of the sleeping heaps of puppies, and then took the younger litters back to their mamas.
Insert photos here.

Tomorrow, Lilly’s litter is 6 weeks old, so it is time for their 6 week spa day. I’ve just finished giving them their bath, and they are now under the blowdrier.
Lilly’s girls before the bath!
Next it’s picture time, and finally I’ll update the website page about Lilly’s litter. Somewhere in the middle of that, I’ve snacked on some peanut butter crackers, and had a few drinks of water. I’m ready to take a nap, but I have to get the pictures done while there is still some natural light outside, shining into the house!
It’s been a very productive day!

My mom called me the other day to tell me about a video she had just watched. She was excited because it talked about controlling weeds and she knew that was a main issue in our garden because it is so GINORMOUS!
I was immediately interested and headed to the website to take a look.
My Internet has not cooperated enough to allow me to watch the entire film yet, (so I ordered the DVD) but I have seen parts while in town and at home, enough to get extremely excited about the concept. This man uses Wood Chips as mulch in his garden.
The concept is that the ground is covered, the wood chips are not mixed in, and this keeps the moisture in the soil, and suffocates the weeds. There are a lot of beautiful spiritual applications as well, and he has studied nature and how the natural world grows trees in the forests, etc., without formal irrigation, etc., and he has implemented these concepts into his garden and has amazing results.
I know it’s not a new concept to lay down a mulch in a garden, but wood chips are more permanent, don’t blow away with the wind, and take years to beak down. When they do start to begin to break down, the soil becomes beautiful, light, and from the looks of this man’s garden, and his pH test results, the soil will grow anything with success and vigor.
I was already devising ways to stop the weeds before they grew this year, and had bought a whole lot of straw bales to lay straw down all over the garden area. But now, I’m going to lay down some chips.
I didn’t waste any time going to the local lumber yard to secure a small load of wood chips in my trailer.
They actually didn’t want to sell me any of this pile because it is what they use to burn and create energy, and their supply is low right now. But since my trailer was so small, they charged me $10 and filled it up.
These are not the pretty kind used in playgrounds and landscaping. That stuff costs $100/ton. But they are what I wanted…ground up branches, leaves, basic organic material from all different types of sources.
The dumpster (what is that thing he’s driving?) driver piled it as high as he could. By the time I got home, it was a couple of inches below the edge of the trailer from all the jiggling as we traveled over the road.
I can’t wait to get started. We’re initially going to lay down newspaper on a dormant bed, 4×46 ft long, that we don’t plan to plant this year, and mulch it with these chips. I can’t wait to see what the ground is like next summer after all the snow, rain, and worms do their magic.
I also plan to put some in my pathways and around some of the vegetables that come up in the garden beds. It should be a fun experiment. I am mostly eager to see the weeds be suffocated. Let’s hope it works, at least, for that!!
I hate to admit that I have 8 month old “puppies” that still need a forever home. I have not said a word about them since they were 4 months old because “Buddy” had a Cherry Eye, and needed surgery to fix it, and I just didn’t have time to deal with it, so I just let them be dogs, and they spent the winter in our straw play yard.
Don’t worry, they stayed plenty warm and played like crazy every single day!
I finally took Buddy to the vet this week and had him neutered and had his eye fixed. He looks quite the sight with his “Cone of Shame”. He kept rubbing his eye so we had to protect him from himself and put on the cone.
He WILL be darling and cute like his brother as soon as his hair grows out around his eye. His tail still works and he has no idea he has any “special needs”, and plays so hard, we have to separate him so his stitches can all safely heal.
Brother just went to the groomer today and will visit the vet next week to get his little jewels chopped off as well.
Despite the fact that they haven’t had a lot of different experiences in life, both pups are very happy, tail wagging, and easy going. They need some basic training and individual attention, and they need to be potty trained, but I don’t think it will take much to turn them into great little dogs.
Because they are so old, we are placing them in their new homes for just $300 each which covers their vet expenses and vaccinations, including their Rabies shot.
We are actively crate training them and they are ready for their new homes now. Buddy would need to stay local as he has some follow up care scheduled with our vet.
If you or someone you know might be interested in a wonderful Shichon (ShihTzu/Bichon Frise mix) teenager, fully vaccinated, and already altered, please let me know. For some, getting an older puppy makes life a lot easier because they can “hold it” a lot longer than a brand new 8 week old puppy!
