After the video, he did pick up the antler and move it to the bed. He’ll probably learn to like all of his toys and chews.
New Puppies & Other Updates
This is a quick update to let everyone know Lilly & Skippy had their puppies. I will post pictures soon. We have 2 beautifully marked sable/white females, that’s it. I am happy because the puppies are healthy and look nice and fat. I am super disappointed because we needed a big litter for everyone waiting to bring their puppy home in July. But it is what it is, and I can’t do anything about it.
In other news, Bella finally went home to Iowa. We had to try twice. Apparently, when the pilot comes to the aircraft, he does one final check of everything, including the hold where animals will travel. He discovered that the oxygen was not working on Friday’s flight, so Bella was sent back to the cargo office, and we picked her up from the airport. We tried again Saturday morning and Bella made it safely home to Iowa with no complications.
We still have Louis, our blenheim male puppy that is being Accelerated. His final home will be New York City! He went with me last night to the activity at my kids’ school, and got a taste of what life looks like with lots of people and noise and commotion. He did great! He will have many more opportunities to get used to the bustle of life as we are taking him everywhere with us. He slept in his crate last night as well, and successfully went outside this morning and peed and pooped. He laid with me on the couch for a while, then I crated him and went to the nursery to check on Lilly’s girls. When I got back, Louis had pooped in his crate. Bad Boy. So the process continues with some successes and some failures. It’s all part of the process. His special litter box came in the mail and I am going to set it up today and get him started on it. He will be using the Porch Potty at his new home, so we are training him to use the travel version now.
Princess, one of our Bichon girls is very preggo and should deliver Bichon Frise puppies in the next week or so. She is in the nursery and we are hoping for a great delivery with 3-5 puppies. The males from the litter will be available for adoption in July.
And finally, we have 2 black/tan Cavalier female puppies that will be available for adoption soon. They will be for pet homes only, so please inquire only if you plan to have them spayed. Stay tuned for photos of all this news. Happy Mother’s Day to everyone!
Rosie’s Single Pup
Oh, if only her litter had been more than one puppy!! I can only imagine how beautiful they all might have been.
This girl is drop dead gorgeous and a beautiful representation of what a sable/white puppy can look like.
She has been reserved and will fly home with her new owner right at 8 weeks old. She is going to be a California girl!
She’s had her first worming and she’s starting to eat solid, but softened food (soaked in water). She is a gem. Enjoy her photo shoot!
Her markings are just beautiful and her color is rich!!
Hanging out on the ranch!
She has good color throughout! She is friendly and growing nicely. As soon as she’s had her first shot, I will let her socialize with the smallest of the Cavalier puppies that I have right now, so she can know what it’s like to have a sibling. Until then, she is just hanging with mama, who is taking very good care of her!!
Update On Louie
Louie is a Shichon from our last litter of Shichons in 2012. He went home as an older pup and is well loved! Here is a quick update…

I purchased Louie from you just about 1 year ago. He was one of your Shichons. I’m sad that you don’t breed them anymore because they are such great dogs! Just wanted to let you know that Louie is doing GREAT!! He is well socialized now and is a bundle of joy to me. He is so smart too.
Everywhere I go with him, people think he is so adorable. I’m so glad I did not give up on him when I first got him.
He loves visiting my dad at Priest Lake and riding in the boat and having freedom to run on the 20 acre property.
The Puppies Woke Up
This happened yesterday after my 2 cents post…
I had to wake up the puppies to let them potty before taking them to town. Bella successfully used the box. Louis peed on the floor again. He is so excited about being with people I think he forgot to pee. I cleaned up his mess and we went outside in the grass.
The puppies love playing in the grass.
Today again: This whole training thing is a process. While in town yesterday, the puppies pooped in their crate and got icky. At home, I put them back out in the nursery and today we will do baths and start over again in the house.
And so each day turns, with moments of success and moments of failure. But persistence will pay off. I know from experience:)
My 2 Cents
Puppies are naughty. They are mischievous. They are bad. They chew things and they potty where they are not supposed to.
Since I’m also in the puppy training trenches right now I wanted to share my 2 cents on how this should be done, or maybe just how I am going to do it.
Have you ever wondered why service dogs are such good dogs? I have my opinion. From what I’ve learned from a friend, a prospective service dog is either with their people, on a leash, or directly interacting with their people, or in their crate. They are never left unattended unless they are crated. Period.
When a puppy is crated they cannot get into trouble. Period. They learn to be content and you have peace of mind.
The two naughty puppies that are living with me right now, Bella and Louis (pronounced Louie, the Blenheim Accelerated Puppy from Pansy’s litter-he finally got named this morning) are currently crated. I have peace of mind. They are peacefully sleeping. They just had a grand playtime where I was in the room next to them. I was watching them, had to spray bitter apple on the doggie door flap because they were chewing it (naughty puppies-it was Bella), so I offered them a bully stick as a replacement, which they happily chewed on for a solid 15 minutes until I plopped them in the crate. Yes, that was a really bad sentence.
They might have been able to chew the bully stick longer, if one of them, and I don’t know who, hadn’t peed on the floor instead of going out the doggie door to use the litter box. I’m pretty sure it was Louis because he was the only one walking around.
So in spite if my efforts to be right near them and supervising them, I got busy shredding papers and had to clean up pee.
But back to crate training…I believe in it and I believe the more contained a puppy’s life is, the more content and calm he will be.
It is like having a new baby. They must be constantly supervised. And taught. And trained. It takes a lot of time. It takes a lot of effort. These 2 puppies are going to be contained a lot, either in their crate, or in their small space shown in the photo, or on a leash with me in the house. This is just how we do things here. I can’t have pee on my carpet, even once. It cannot happen, and it won’t happen because I simply don’t let them go there. These puppies will have plenty of space to play and run and have fun. But it will be on my time clock, when I am ready, and prepared, and willing. Otherwise, they will be contained….because that’s how I think it should be done!!
I wrote the above about an hour ago, and I’m just finishing it now. The puppies are STILL crated, sleeping like little babies. Soon one of them will wake up and cry to be let out. When that happens, I will let them out and guide them toward the litter box and we will have success. We will then offer food, inside the crate with a kong ball, and water, and they will have another grand playtime together, and hopefully they will poop in the box as well. And when things begin to tone down, I will put them in the crate again for another nap. And they will be content, and fall asleep, and have sweet puppy dreams.
And the wheel will turn like that all day long, and tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, and the next day….till Bella goes to her forever home, and till Louis gets a little older and can be trusted with a little more space! Happy Potty Training Everyone!!

Accelerated Puppy
We have the joy of working with the small Blenheim male from Pansy’s litter as an Accelerated Puppy.
We have started crate training with him and have been socializing him with as many people as we can. Once he’s had his 2nd shot we can start taking him more places with us so he can meet even more new people and get used to traveling in the car.
He is a very social boy and full of energy. His final destination is New York City after he is neutered. This should be a fun journey.
It rained outside, and he got a little wet when he went out to potty. We brought him in and snuggled him in a big blanket!
He is very curious and alert to all of his surroundings!
His current buddy is “Bella”, the black/white Cavachon female that is still available for adoption.
He is a lover boy and a ball of wiggles!
Update on Luna
Here is an update from the family that got Pansy’s blenheim female! Glad things are going well:)

We’ve had Luna about a week-and-a-half now and she is certainly settling-in as a member of the family! She is a funny, energetic puppy – I have nicknamed her Luna-Tic!
She passed her vet check with flying colors, uses her UGoDog alomost every time she potties, loves her many toys, and curling up on our laps when she is done running around the house or yard at full speed. We are having such a good time with her! N.
One Last Cavachon Available
We have one last Cavachon female puppy available for adoption. She has had 2 shots and is current on her worming as well. She is super sweet and has a gentle spirit. We’ve been calling her “Bella”.
